About
What this site is and why it exists
IonActon is an independent community site covering town finances, policy, and local happenings. The goal is simple: make town government accessible to the people it serves.
What you'll find here
Budget — Raw budget documents alongside plain-language breakdowns of what the numbers actually mean, year over year.
Analysis — Data-driven looks at spending trends, departmental performance, and the gap between what's proposed and what's delivered.
Commentary — Opinion on town meeting warrant articles, zoning decisions, and other issues where a clear point of view is warranted.
Who runs this
This site is maintained by a resident who believes local government deserves the same scrutiny as any other institution, and that most people would engage more if the information were easier to find and understand.
Ratings
Acton and Boxborough residents can score the boards. Five ratings and a color shows: red, yellow, or green. It is a straw poll. The page says how many replies came from each town. It does not say who sent them.
